The Staff Selection Commission has its Headquarter at New Delhi. All Examinations as well as administrative matters are submitted to the Chairman through two Members. The Secretary functions under both the Members. Besides, there are post of one Director, one Deputy Secretary, two Joint Directors, nine Under Secretaries, four Deputy Directors, one Finance & Budget Officer, one Assistant Director (OL), 24 Section Officers and more than 183 supporting officers / staff working at the Headquarters for discharging the duties and responsibilities of the Commission. An Organisational Chart of the Commission (Hqrs.) is given at Appendix II,. The functions of various Branches/Sections of the Hqrs. are briefly outlined under the heading “Functions of the Sections”.

The University grew out of a College that was ‘The College of Engineering, Vizagpatnam’ as was named at the time of its establishment in 1946 by the then Government of the composite Madras State is situated in a sprawling campus of 110 acres filled with mango trees in a fast developing Port city of Kakinada on the east coast of peninsula India and situated in a zone which through generations, contributed significantly to the political literacy and cultural heritage of the country. This college became a constituent of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University w.e.f 02-10-1972 through an act of legislature along with other sister institutions under the control of the then Director of Technical Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh. Earlier, it was affiliated to Andhra University. In the year 2003 the college has become autonomous.

Yogi Vemana University is a newly established University in Kadapa district with West Campus at Idupulapaya. Earlier, it was a part of Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati.

Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh donated his 312 acres (1.26 km2) of land to build West Campus. A modern concept school, which is called 21st Century Gurukul. The university is named after Yogi Vemana who is known for his philosophical teachings and practicing Achala Paripurna Raja Yoga. Children are taught his teachings and poems at school as part of regular syllabus and moral science at schools. This University was known earlier as Sri Venkateswara University PG Centre, Kadapa. This PG centre at Kadapa was established as a constituent institute of Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati on 20th November, 1977.

It was upgraded as Yogi Vemana University by the Government of Andhra Pradesh through an Act of A.P. Legislative Assembly on 9th March 2006. It is located at Mittamedipalli village and Panchayat about 15 KM from the Kadapa city on the Kadapa-Pulivendla road. The campus is spread over 450 acres of land. Presently, this university is in Kadapa town

Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati was established in 1954, in the world famous temple town of Tirupati on the sprawling campus of 1000 acres with a panoramic and pleasant hill view. This University stands as a testimony to the wisdom and foresight of great visionaries Late Sri Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Late Sri Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, to cater to the educational needs and aspirations of the people of Rayalaseema area. With a great wisdom, the founder of this University have rightly coined the motto “Wisdom lies in proper perspective” for it. The University has grown excellently from strength to strength over the past fifty-two years, as a premier institute of higher learning under the able and committed leaderships of successive Vice-Chancellors starting from Prof. S. Govindarajulu to the present Vice-Chancellor Prof. N. Prabhakar Rao. It has gone through greater strides in the transformation of the University with acquiring necessary and modern sophisticated instrumentation to catch up with the world competition in academic and research programmes.
